I was privileged to meet both Brother George and his late wife Sis Margaret during my time with Gambia Youth For Christ. These two beautiful souls impacted my young life greatly.
Bro. George mentored me and guided me through some difficult moments in my young life. I remembered him and his late wife hosting all night prayer and worship meetings despite having two small children at the time. Their home was full of love and always open to YFC members.
In 2019, I went to Ghana for the funeral of my late sister. Pastor Wood was a great spiritual leader to my sister especially towards the end of her life. I called Pastor Wood upon my arrival and we promised to meet before my departure. He meet me at the airport upon my departure. He came with his son and I was surprised to see how youthful he still looked - with very little gray hair even at 70. He had the same warm smile and welcoming embrace.
We laughed and reminisced about his time in the Gambia and how I missed Sister Margaret. We prayed, hugged and parted ways. Little did I know that was the last time we would meet on this side of life.
Brother George, you have left a rich
legacy and positively impacted so many lives like mine. You worked tirelessly and now you have taken your rest. May God comfort us all who remain to mourn your passing. Sleep on and take your rest.
