It's with great sadness that we mourn the loss of our dear school mate, Modestus, who left us far too soon at the age of 43. Although our time with him has been cut short, the memories and impact he made on us will last a lifetime.
Twenty-six years ago, a group of energetic eager students gained admission into Keta Secondary school as it was known then. Modestus was one of them and he gained admission to offer science and was in House 3 (Abruquah House)
He was a very active member of the Ketasco ‘99-year group, and always was quick to point out that he was in Science B. He even coined a catch phrase for his former classmates, saying “Science B class- if not the best, one of the best”. He was always teasing those who were not in that class on how that they missed out.
Modestus had a great sense of humor and was known for his ability to tease people. He was the source of most of us nicknames, and one could not help but laugh at the way he’ll shout the nickname at any opportunity till it became popular.
He was a constant presence at all our meetings, beach parties and anniversary celebrations. He was always available to provide video coverage and take pictures at events, including personal events of many Ketasco ‘99-year group members. He also did same for the Keta Secondary School old students association. He was very instrumental in the live streaming, video coverage and photography of the just ended 70th anniversary celebrations.
We remember him as a kind and compassionate individual, always quick with a smile or a kind word to lift someone's spirits. His infectious laughter and positive attitude brought joy to those around them him and his caring nature made him a dear friend to many. Our WhatsApp group is full of messages from members reminiscing on their encounters with him, and testaments from people who personally experienced his help and advice. Quite frankly the mood in the group has been very sad since he passed away. His kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and he gave so much of himself to make the world a better place.
In his time with us, he achieved so much and left a lasting impact on the lives of those around them. He was always encouraging all of us to remain close and let any petty squabbles or bygones be bygones. He advised members on how they could take farming as an alternate source of income, and was always sending tips, breaking news and daily proverbs on the WhatsApp page.
Although we grieve our loss, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the memories and impact he made on those who knew him. We will always remember him as a shining example of kindness, compassion, and dedication, and we are grateful for the time we had with him.

Rest in peace, Modestus. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Modestly! Rest well my brother. Your love and passion for work and progress will be sorely missed. You were a man of your word. Diligent and ever willing to go the extra Mile. Rest well, my brother. Rest in the Lord
