Alex,
You have gone too soon. You works will remain an inspiration to all of us and those to come. Thank you for being a blessing.

We never say you have died, we say you have responded to the call of the almighty. Rest well.

Alex was a senior brother and great mentor. I benefited significantly from his leadership and mentorship when I was a National Economist with UNDP Liberia (2005-2009) and even when I became a Senior Economist in 2009 until now, thus following his great footsteps. It is very sad to hear of his passing. My deepest condolences to the family and our prayers are with you during this difficult time for such irreparable and irreplaceable loss. May his soul rest in perfect and everlasting peace through our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Our uncle, our brother and our friend Alexander Aboagye
Time, we were together
His laugh unmistakable
He laughed and said, Uncle-
Your laugh is unmistakable
Time we were together
His advice and support
Always available

Smiling, he always gave support
His eyes always twinkling with joy
“Vanity of vanities”
We hear him say, smiling with joy
Alex loved the Holy Book

Each Saturday afternoon, we shared together
And prayed together
With family Assani, family Mzumara
With family Boafo, family Komba,
Family Ochere, family David Nguyi,
Family Vincent Parker and family Akiwumi
Family David Luke and family Pinna Tsige
Family Chris Johnson and Beryl and husband John
Family Vincent Parker and family Jeya Chandra
And always dear Aberra Derge

Each Sunday, we served Him
Walked along the isles
Honouring Him
With the joy of our lives
We served Him
At the Addis Ababa International Evangelical Church
Along with Girma Demissie

Each Wednesday morning, we met
At the International Hilton Hotel
And studied the Bible
Pondered over the teachings
And encouraged one another

They loved their outings
the Mzumara and Aboagye children,
To Ambo and to Debre Zeit
and to Sodere and Debrezeit
With the house on wheels leading-
And countless days of sharing meals and fun

To our sister Kate,
And the young men,
Then as children we dedicated ourselves
To guide, protect and bring up in love
And in the fear of the Lord
Stay together…

And may God bind us together
And keep us in His love.

Alex was a kind hearted person. He always visited me in the Ghana office when he was in Ghana and gave me some coaching. He was warm person to be with.

May His soul rest in perfect peace, and may eternal light shine upon him.
